|"Minimizing the effort of data collection and data entry"|
INFOCOM has been developed as a tool for facilitating the shared use of community information resources. Any user of
INFOCOM is able to share locally maintained information with other INFOCOM users.
Several organisations have indicated a preparedness to share their data resources.
INFOCOM allows users to extend information
obtained from other sources for their own local purposes, either by the addition
of greater detail or local notes. Such extensions can be protected so that data
is not lost when the next update from the original source is loaded.
Organisations providing a shared data resource
may charge a subscription fee to cover the costs of maintaining the resource.
Any organisation providing data also reserves the right to specify limitations
on the use which can be made of such data.
Data obtained from other sources is loaded
into the local INFOCOM database using the "import" facility.
The major sources of shared data for INFOCOM users are:
Community Referral Directory Database
Victorian Community Information Centres
Other INFOCOM Data Sources
Non-INFOCOM Data Sources
Any other INFOCOM users who are interested in sharing their data, and would like this fact more widely known, should contact Datascape. We are happy to promote the availability of additional information resources on this web site.
|Other INFOCOM Data Sources|
INFOCOM has been installed in over 100 organisations in Victoria and other states. Any INFOCOM user maintaining their own local data is potentially a source of information for other INFOCOM users.|
For more information about INFOCOM users that may be relevant to your organisation contact Community Referral Support Service.

|Non-INFOCOM Data Sources|
Any relevant data available in computer form
(spreadsheets, documents, other databases) has the potential to be "imported"
into an INFOCOM database, subject to the approval of the owner of the other
data resource. Datascape will develop conversion utilities for any authorised
data source (at minimum cost).|
